What Is 5 Years Later? Ben 10-Danny Phantom Crossover Comicbook.
Ben 10 is the name that most cartoon fans of the 2000s are familiar with, as the series first aired in the year 2007 and quickly rose to popularity all over the world. People loved the series, as it introduced a new and unique superhero who had the ultimate power, but was unable to use it properly as he was just a 10 years old child. The characters were relatable, the cousins relationship between Ben Tennyson and Gwen Tennyson was something that every child is familiar with, as they would never get along and would always end up teasing each other and fighting as siblings and cousins usually do.
The show wasn't just popular because of its compelling storylines, it was mostly popular because the main character, Ben Tennyson, could turn into 10 different aliens through a watch that he found while on a summer vacation with his Grandpa, Max Tennyson, and his cousin Gwen, which was later revealed to be a high-tech device, which was created by the smartest being in five galaxies, Azmuth, and it allowed its wielder to scan the DNA of different alien beings and turn into them. This not only got fans to be excited for more aliens that could turn up in any episode of the series, but it was also a great marketing idea as the studio could sell different toys and action figures, and just make more by giving Ben new aliens. Even the villains were very well designed and some were alternate versions of Ben's aliens, which allowed the studio to resell the toys by just tweaking their designs a bit.
It gained popularity in the original series with its exciting storylines and hype for more and more exploration into the Ben 10 Universe. Its sequels, names Ben 10: Alien Force and Ben 10: Ultimate Aliens, were more mature and hugely story driven. However, with the introduction of more comedic cartoons to the newer generation of kids, Ben 10 was forced to return back to its comedic tone, which made the show lose its loyal fans that grew up watching the series and the characters grow as well. The next sequel, called Ben 10: Omniverse, was the last continuation of the original series and this went back to the comedic root of the show, which caused it to lose the loyal fans and profits, and this led to Cartoon Network ending the show, albeit on a cliffhanger. Fans were hoping for a Ben 10,000 show but instead CN decided to reboot the series and made it highly comedy centric, no longer focusing on good story telling, but focusing on comedy and introducing more and more aliens to sell more toys.
Die hard fans were unhappy with this decision and left the show with their memory of their favourite superhero being the one before the reboot. However, out comes a fan of Ben 10 who decided that this should not be the end of Ben Tennyson's adventures, and created a fan-made comicbook series called 5 Years Later or 5YL. This fan started on YouTube by making videos on his favorite hero, about how he could be in the same level as the strongest superheroes in DC and other franchises. This fan's name is Rob Orpilla, famously knows for his YouTube name, Kuro The Artist. He created his own comicbook series with his amazing art skills and decided to make Ben 10 crossover with another superhero that he loves, Danny Phantom, from the series with the same name. The series takes place five years after the events of Omniverse and follows the story of a Ben Tennyson in his 20s. He has produced upto nine chapters of his series and has gained huge popularity and recognition from Ben 10 and Danny Phantom fans all over the world.
The comicbook features characters like Ben 10, Danny Phantom, Eon, Vlad Plasmius, Rook, Kevin Levin, Gwen and many more. It's official description is as follows, "A cross-dimensional accident forces ghost-fighting superhero Danny Phantom out of a five-year retirement when his old arch-nemesis, Vlad Plasmius, allies himself with Eon, a time-walker on an endless crusade across the multiverse. With the help of the alien shape-shifting space cop, Ben 10, the Heroes must find a way to stop this mastermind. In a story of Morality vs Power, 5 Years Later brings together universes for an epic conclusion that takes them to the next level."
